Croatian Baroque Ensemble thrilled the domestic and international audience of the 3rd Korkyra Baroque Festival (6 – 12/9/2014)
Monday, 15. September 2014.
Croatian Baroque Ensemble presented a rich Baroque programme at this year’s 3rd Korkyra Baroque Festival. The programme was mostly based on the greatest vocal-instrumental and concerto achievements of the Baroque master Antonio Vivaldi. With the evening concerto in the Church of St. Nicholas on Sunday, 7th September, Croatian Baroque Ensemble led by maestro Saša Britvić (Art Director of the Festival) and Academic Choir Ivan Goran Kovačić brought to life the acts of one of the most beautiful vocal-instrumental works of the Baroque repertoire – the magnificent Vivaldi’s Gloria RV 589. Solo parts were assigned to Marija Kuhar Šoša (soprano), Martina Klarić (soprano) and young mezzo-soprano Sonja Runje. Surely one of the most impressive festival performances this year was executed by a renowned Croatian violinist Laura Vadjon, who led the excellent Croatian Baroque Ensemble in the crowded St. Mark’s Cathedral in Korčula on September, 9th and made Korčula audience ask for as much as three subsequent encores. You can read about the success of both concerts in the critical reviews of a prominent musicologist Branimir Pofuk:
